Rush Condos at Richmond

This is a new project is a pre-construction condominium in Toronto’s Fashion District, proposed by Alterra Developments. A contemporary mid-rise building, RUSH Condos is slated for a 2021 occupancy. This stylish home will give a vibrant neighbourhood yet another modern addition that still pays homage to the area’s rich history while offering a wealth of condominium-style conveniences. The development site sits on the northwest corner of Richmond and Augusta Avenue, a leafy, yet modern pocket that’s rich with historic buildings.

About The Building

Alterra’s proposal calls for 13 storeys and 108 residential units with commercial space at grade. The unit mix is expected to include 50 one-bedroom layouts, 30 one-bedroom-plus-den, 17 two-bedroom and 11 three-bedroom layouts. 36 parking spaces will be located underground, along with bicycle spaces. A landscaped rooftop terrace is expected to be included, along with a selection of indoor amenities. Designed by Quadrangle Architects,RUSH Condos will feature symmetrical lines and a warm, yet contemporary façade, complementing its surroundings beautifully.

Living in the Fashion District

The neighbourhood has strong historical roots, having been the center of the city’s garment and textile manufacturing industry in the early twentieth century. Its influence can still be seen in the many art deco-style warehouses lining the stretch, many of which have been converted into residential lofts, art galleries, restaurants or office space for creative and technology-based businesses. In the past few years, we’ve seen more contemporary condominiums popping up here too, as young professionals begin to favour the area for its proximity to trendy neighbourhoods like West Queen West, Chinatown and the Entertainment District.

Many of these are mid-rise buildings, designed to complement the area’s existing streetscape. In the Fashion District, you’ll find a selection of trendy bars, cafes and boutiques, making it a great pocket of the city to start or end your day. The city has designated this portion of its downtown as a “regeneration area,” which allows for a wide range of uses, including residential, commercial and light industrial. Despite the trend for midrise and boutique buildings here, a seven-acre redevelopment is proposed for the southern part of the neighbourhood that will see seven towers, significant office space, a retail galleria and pedestrian mews.
