Condos in Wilson Heights are increasing in number, particularly in the immediate area surrounding Wilson Station, just a few minutes’ walk from the Building site. Dare we say this neighbourhood is North York’s next major transformation? A variety of big-box retailers are just steps away, including a major retail redevelopment taking place adjacent to the condominium site. Shopping and dining options are at your door and it’s a single subway stop to Yorkdale Shopping Centre, North York’s primary upscale retail destination. The recently expanded mall features over 250 stores and services, including its “luxury wing,” where you’ll find brands such as Holt Renfrew, Michael Kors and Swarovski. It’s also a single subway stop to Downsview Park, over 500 acres of greenspace that features orchards, walking paths, athletic fields and a variety of recreation programs. Dog walkers, recreation lovers and families flock to the park on a regular basis, which is easily one of the city’s most underrated greenspaces. It also features music festivals and markets all-year round, serving as a major gathering space, especially during the warmer months.
The Wilson Heights neighbourhood is great for commuters of all types. From Wilson station, it’s an efficient 20-minute trip into the heart of downtown Toronto, while easy access to Allen Road and Highway 401 make getting elsewhere in the GTA equally easy. The subway line has recently expanded into Vaughan, marking the transit company’s first foray outside of Toronto. With the number of new proposals and buildings under construction here, we’re expecting to see a significant population growth in the neighbourhood, along with streetscape improvements and a pedestrian-friendly retail landscape.
